PSST: if you’re hungry for more facts, looking for the less wordy version—or perhaps just have a thing for bulleted lists (hey, this is a judgement free zone, ok?!), use the links below to get to the good stuff.
I bring a background that bridges technical writing, instructional design, and product ownership, with hands-on experience designing user-centered digital training.
My 10+ years working in technical communication and instructional design have afforded me specialized knowledge in technical writing, federal proposals, user-centered technical documentation, immersive courseware, Game-Based Training (GBT), Agile methodology, and software development.
At Cubic, I led instructional design for R&D efforts, building 3D game-based training. I conducted in-depth user research, developed player profiles based on personality types, and uncovered motivations to design incentive systems that drove engagement. In doing so, I wasn’t just writing content—I was designing experiences informed by research, behavior, and user needs. As a content designer, I draw on that same approach: combining research, strategy, and cross-functional collaboration to create content that guides users seamlessly, motivates them to act, and helps them achieve their goals with confidence.
As Senior Instructional Systems Design Lead at Cubic Corporation, I transformed training paradigms by helping to secure a $99M contract for GBT virtual courseware. Our team decreased qualification time from six months to four weeks, showcasing my commitment to efficiency and excellence. Moreover, my expertise in 3D simulation creation led to a 20% increase in pass rates, reflecting my deep understanding of both technical development and educational efficacy.
My most recent professional role has led me to the world of federal proposal writing — while not a new sphere for me, making the jump to full-time writing has brought me a wealth of knowledge. Volume Lead for an organization that focuses on cybersecurity, cloud development, DevSecOps, and the world of AI/ML, this role has fed my constant hunger for new knowledge to acquire and domains to master. It has also represented my foray into Capture Management-based activities, contributing to my growth in not only technical know-how, but the strategy side of things, too.
With a Master’s in Technical Communication, I've specialized in converting intricate concepts into accessible, impactful learning experiences. In my professional work, I’ve established organizational style guides and document control practices, onboarding material, directed multi-functional team efforts to define development guidelines, and orchestrated the creation of company-wide documentation, capturing processes, workflows, and tasking.
I am a leading product owner and collaborative business partner, able to brainstorm ideas, mitigate operational challenges, and implement complex, yet engaging, deliverables. Additionally, I’ve had significant success in the areas of content review and process improvement, both of which have yielded significant operational efficiencies and organizational visibility.
My work in software development affords me a special set of skills (if you did not read this hearing Liam Neeson’s voice in your head, please try again) — managing (often at-odds) cross-functional teams, quality assurance, improving team performance, project management—to me, these simply come with the territory of getting things done, and getting them done well.
